Snowflake Showcase #2 Pink Snowflake Swirl Box

Thank you for joining me for Project #2 in my Snowflake Showcase. This beautiful Powder Pink and Silver box really has that WOW factor, the photo’s don’t capture the sparkle from the silver heat embossing.  

For Project #1 I made my own stamp using the large snowflake die and some craft foam.  I also made a stamp with the stunning snowflake swirl die and used it to make my own DSP.  I stamped the swirl first and then silver heat embossed Joy, the scattering of snowflakes image and the medium snowflake that are in the Snow is Glistening stamp set.  At the bottom of this post you will find all the cutting and scoring dimensions to make this 8″ x 8″ x 2″ box.

Before I made the DSP I didn’t have a clue what I was going to make with it but when it was finished I knew it would be perfect for a Baby’s 1st Christmas box.  With one of the pieces of left-over DSP I made a fancy tag for the box.  The tag has 3 layers:-

• The top layer is Vellum with a Powder Pink 1.  The ‘st’ and Christmas were silver heat embossed.  I used the st from the word Christmas for the 1st.  Sadly the large number dies have now retired. 
• The 2nd layer is my DSP.
• The 3rd layer is Powder Pink cardstock. 

To adhere the vellum without seeing the adhesive I added liquid glue behind the number and then put tiny little dots of liquid glue behind each heat embossed letter.  To make it easier to open the tag I scored the Vellum and the DSP.  

I really enjoyed making my own DSP, it was really relaxing and therapeutic.  I enjoyed it so much I made another 2 sheets of DSP.  One of them I have used for another project I have coming up in the next few days and the other sheet I’m going to make into a One Sheet Wonder (OSW).

DIMENSIONS*

Box Base – Powder Pink cardstock cut to just under 12″ x 12″.  Score all 4 sides at 2″.
Box Lid – Stamped DSP 10″ x 10″.  Score all 4 sides at 1″.  The left-over pieces are 2″ wide so they are perfect to use with the Scalloped Tag Topper punch and you can make several tags.

For the Tag – Vellum, stamped DSP and Powder Pink cardstock – 2″ x 4 ½” punched with the Scalloped Tag Topper punch.

The stamp I used for the ‘st’ and Christmas is the Merry Christmas stamp from the Mistletoe Season stamp set but use what you have. 

I used a Versamark pen to ink up just the st of Christmas but if you don’t have a Versamark pen you can mask off the rest of the stamp with post-it-notes, ink it with your Versamark ink pad, remove the post-it-notes and then stamp it.

*When making any project I recommend you make it with cheap cardstock first because when someone is typing up lots of measurements mistakes can be made, we are human after all. I do double check my measurements but I have Dyscalculia.
