I have a thing about snowflakes and when I saw the Snowflake Showcase I fell in love with it all, which is a first for me, but I had a battle going on between my head and my heart.
My business head said “It’s only available for a month, spend the money on stuff in the Annual catalogue.”
My heart was saying “Buy it all, buy it now.”
After a short battle my heart won and I bought both stamp sets, the dies, the white velvet card and the embellishments. The white velvet card sold out before I had a chance to play with it so I’m hoping the rest of the products don’t sell out before I share all my projects with you.
Because of the amount of projects I made I have decided to do a Snowflake Showcase and this is Project #1.
I used the largest snowflake die to die-cut some craft foam and make my own stamp. I stamped the snowflake with Merry Merlot ink, added some smaller die-cut snowflakes and put one of the small Gold Faceted Gem in the centre. You can find all the dimensions and a list of the products I used at the bottom of this post.
I’m so glad I bought these now, I have had so much fun designing and making projects with the Snow is Glistening stamps and dies and I haven’t used the Happiness Surrounds stamps yet.

Dimensions*
Crumb Cake card base – 11 ¾” x 4 1/8″. Scored at 5 7/8″.
Merry Merlot cardstock layer – 5 ½” x 3 7/8″.
Crumb Cake cardstock stamping layer – 5 ¼” x 3 5/8″.
I coloured the Gold Metallic Edge Very Vanilla Ribbon with the Merry Merlot Stampin’ Write marker and put it on a radiator to dry.
The gold snowflake on the card is Merry Merlot cardstock with Vegas Gold Shimmer Paint on it.
- I adhered the stamped layer to the Merry Merlot cardstock with multipurpose liquid glue.
- I wrapped a piece of the ribbon around both the stamped layer and the Merry Merlot cardstock and used Tear & Tape to adhere it.
- I cut a piece of craft foam to 5 ¼” x 3 5/8″ and added Tear & Tape to both sides of the foam. I adhered one side to the Merry Merlot cardstock and the other side to the card base.
- I made a bow with the remaining ribbon and used my glue gun to attach it.
Tips on making and using the stamp
Before die-cutting the craft foam I adhered a multipurpose adhesive sheet to one side of the foam. I tried the adhesive backed craft foam first but the snowflake was so delicate I struggled to remove the backing paper. It was a lot easier with the multipurpose adhesive sheets.
Running the foam through your die-cutting machine will flatten the foam. Leave it for about 10 – 15 minutes and it will go back to normal.
I adhered the stamp to an acrylic block and I used it with my Stamparatus. It was easy to remove after stamping and the multipurpose adhesive sheets didn’t leave a sticky residue.
Cleaning the stamp and storage
I used the Stampin’ Scrub and Stampin’ Mist cleaner to clean the stamp. The only advice I can give is be gentle when cleaning it.
I left the stamp to air dry overnight and then I put it in the Snow is Glistening stamp case so that I can use it again. You will only be able to use it a few times before you have to throw it away.

When making any project I recommend you make it with cheap cardstock first because when someone is typing up lots of measurements mistakes can be made, we are human after all. I do double check my measurements but I have Dyscalculia.
