Quick Fold Flat Gift Bags

Thank you for joining me today.  Before I get onto todays project I would like to apologise for the lack of blog posts recently.  For the last few months I haven’t been able to do as much crafting as I would like to because of my long-term health conditions.  I’m determined to carry on crafting and blogging when I can.

These gift bags were made in early May and the bags made with retiring DSP were added to a quick post while the DSP was still available.

While I was looking for another Memory Lane Monday project it dawned on me there wasn’t any gift bag projects on my blog.  I love being able to make my own gift bags, it was one of the reasons why I joined Stampin’ Up!  I normally make a gift bag that’s sized for a specific gift and in all the year’s I’ve been crafting I don’t remember making a fold flat gift bag.

The bag was quick and simple to make and as soon as I’d finished it I wanted to make more.  In the end I made 13 gift bags in a variety of sizes.

I admit I have a ‘thing’ for DSP.  When I see gorgeous papers I can’t resist buying them but I have tons of DSP that’s been sitting in storage boxes for far too long.  Are you the same?  Some of it is retired Stampin’ Up! DSP but because the majority of it, about 80%, isn’t SU I haven’t been using.  I don’t like to share a project if the products aren’t available but I’m at the stage where I either get rid of the DSP or I start using it and enjoying it.

I always say “use what you have in your craft supplies” and with this in mind I grabbed a variety of 12″ x 12″ DSP to make the bags.  Now I’m listening to my own advice : )

One of the bags I made was sized to hold 2 stamp/DVD cases or 1 wood mount stamp case and with the DSP that was left over I made 8 A2 cards and 6 3″ x 3″ cards.  From 2 sheets of 12″ DSP I managed to make a gift bag and 14 cards.  Please let me know if you would like to see a blog post for this.

I love all the gift bags and it feels great to use some of the DSP that’s been stored for so long.  I have already used some of the bags and I will definitely be making a lot more.

I have been good and only ordered 2 packs of Stampin’ Up! DSP, I’m expecting it to be delivered this week.  The first thing I want to make with it is some more fold flat gift bags and another gift bag and cards set.  I will take photo’s as I’m making the gift bags and write another blog post with dimensions.
