InspireINK 2 – Fancy Folds

Thank you for joining us today for our InspireInk Blog Hop.

This month it was Helzie Lou’s turn to choose the theme for our hop and she chose the fantastic theme ‘Fancy Fold February’.  I was so excited when I saw the theme as I hadn’t made a Fancy Fold card for ages.

I don’t go on Pinterest very often because I know I’ll spend hours on it and I’d rather spend those hours crafting but I knew this would be the best place to research different styles of fancy fold cards.  There were lots of fancy folds to choose from and I decided to make a Bridge Fold/U Fold card as I hadn’t made one before.

When I get new crafting ‘goodies’ they go in a clear box that I keep next to my workspace, I have set myself 2 conditions:-

• Whenever I craft I look in this box first.
• The new stuff doesn’t get put away until I’ve made at least 2 projects with it.

The Coffee Café stamps and dies that Geoff bought me for Christmas were still in the box and I knew these would be perfect for my card.  Are you shaking your head at me because I’ve left them in there for so long?

For the coffee cup in the centre I wanted some dimension but I still need the card to fold flat so I made a ‘pop-up’ mechanism for it.  I also made an envelope for the card because the finished dimensions of the card are 6-1/4″ x 8-1/8″.

There is plenty of room on the back of the card for you to write your message to the recipient.  I stamped the sentiment onto a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock that I wanted to layer onto Early Espresso cardstock but I had run out so I used the Early Espresso marker to draw a line around the piece of Very Vanilla instead.  I think it works.

*When designing a project or when I CASE a project I always use my cheap cardstock to make a prototype before making it with my Stampin’ Up! cardstock. I do check the measurements I add to my blog posts but when typing lots of measurements mistakes can be made. When making any project I recommend making it first with cheap cardstock before using your best cardstock.*
