Heat Embossing in ANY Colour

How to Heat Emboss in ANY Colour. Tutorial by Dee Copus-Read, Lady Dee Crafts

Last week one of my friends asked for some advice about heat embossing and while we were chatting she told me about the list of coloured embossing powders she “needed” to buy.

She didn’t know about heat embossing with her Stampin’ Up! ink pads and Stampin’ Write Markers and this got me thinking about how many other crafters didn’t know about this and were spending a fortune on embossing powders.

I have 2 step-by-step photographic tutorials showing how to use your Classic Stampin’ ink pads and your Stampin’ Write Markers instead of coloured embossing powders.

Your heat embossing will now coordinate with your cardstock, DSP, ribbon etc.

The Clear Embossing Powder turns shiny when it’s melted

Heat Embossing with your Classic Stampin’ Ink Pads

 You will need:-

  • Cardstock
  • Stamps
  • Clear Block or Stamparatus®
  • Classic Stampin’ Pad
  • Embossing Buddy
  • Versamark
  • Clear Embossing Powder
  • Heat Tool
  • Paintbrush

1. Prep your cardstock with the Embossing Buddy first, this will prevent the embossing powder sticking to anything on the cardstock.

2. With your stamp mounted on a clear block or on a Stamparatus plate ink the stamp with Versamark Ink.

3. Then ink the stamp with one of your coloured ink pads, the Versamark does not harm the ink pad.  Make sure you have a good covering of ink on the stamp and then stamp it onto your cardstock.

4. Cover the stamped image with Clear Embossing Powder and tap off the excess. Use a small dry paintbrush to remove any unwanted embossing powder.

5. Heat with your heat tool, you will see the embossing powder start to melt.

6. When all the embossing powder has melted you will be left with a shiny stamped image.

Clean the stamp thoroughly before repeating this process otherwise you will end up with ink on your Versarmak pad.
