Happy Wishes in Pretty Colours

These heat embossed birthday cards are so pretty and they are a great way to use up some of those smaller pieces of DSP we all keep hold of.

The Happy Wishes stamp set is a fantastic stamp set to have in your collection of craft goodies, it’s such a shame that it will be retiring soon.  Sale-A-Bration ends on March 31st and most of the products in this promotion will retire but this is definitely one S-A-B product that I’ll continue to use.

I love the look of White embossing powder on coloured cardstock, it looks so clean and fresh.  I always use the embossing buddy before heat embossing as it stops the embossing powder sticking to any oils that have transferred from our hands to the cardstock.

Before I heat the embossing powder I warm my heat tool up, then warm up the cardstock by waving my heat tool all over it and I heat the embossing powder from underneath.  I have found that this really helps keep the cardstock flat.

After the heat embossing was done I added some pretty Powder Pink DSP, tied a Whisper White bow and my card was done

Clear embossing powder is a ‘must have’ in my craftroom.  Crafters don’t have the money or the space to have embossing powders in all different colours and how often would they get used?

You can get different colours of heat embossing by using an ink pad and then adding clear embossing powder.  Some inks dry very quickly so I ink my stamp with Versamark first and then use the ink pad on the stamp.

I’m a big believer in use what you have and I have a lot of non Stampin’ Up! products that I like to use, especially DSP.  I love the DSP that I used for my 3rd card, it’s not Stampin’ Up! but it coordinated with the heat embossing, the Powder Pink cardstock and ribbon.

*When designing a project or when I CASE a project I always use my cheap cardstock to make a prototype before making it with my Stampin’ Up! cardstock. I do check the measurements I add to my blog posts but when typing lots of measurements mistakes can be made. When making any project I recommend making it first with cheap cardstock before using your best cardstock.*
