Gift Boxed Climbing Orchid

Happy Mother’s Day!! 

It’s Mothering Sunday here in the UK, I hope all you amazing Mum’s will have a day of pampering and relaxation.

My mum lost her 2nd battle with Cancer in 2015 and this is the first year I have been able to make something for Geoffs Mom Iris.  Every year we always bought orchids for our mums but this time I decided to make one.

I love the Climbing Orchid stamp set and dies, I don’t get to use them very often and this was the perfect opportunity.

The flowers and buds are white heat embossed on Powder Pink cardstock and I used the coordinating ink in the centre of each flower. The flowers and buds are on a twig from our garden.

Powder Pink retires at the end of May, I would prefer Powder Pink stay and Blushing Bride retire but there was a big colour revamp recently so I can’t see that happening.

For me, it’s all about the presentation.

I measured the potted Orchid and I needed a BIG box.  To keep the focus on the Orchid I made a white box and I kept it simple.  The presentation box measures 5″ (w) x 3¼” (d) x 12″ (h).  It was difficult trying to get a photo of the box without getting a reflection on the acetate.

I used the stunning Country Floral embossing folder on a piece of Powder Pink cardstock for the plant pot to sit on.  The base was originally white but I didn’t like it with the white plant pot. 

I added the Powder Pink Shimmer Ribbon bow but I’m still not sure if I like it.  I think it’s because the tails are too long.
