Cute Chocolate Coin Holders

Aren’t these little chocolate coin holders adorable?  I think any child, or adult, would love to find one in their Christmas stocking.  These are a great way to use up some of those scraps of cardstock and DSP that we all keep for a ‘just in case’ moment.  Well I do, do you? 

In Asda I found the usual milk or white chocolate coins but they also had Unicorn coins and I just had to have them, well it would be rude not to. 

The coins vary in size but I used the larger coins and made the holders 2″ wide and varied the height of them.  You will find all the dimensions and a list of the products I used below.

These are a fun little crafting project that are inexpensive to make.  They are super simple and you can make them in minutes.  The coin holders would also make great little favours for your Christmas table or make a batch of them for craft fairs.

DIMENSIONS*

Holder for the Milk or White Chocolate Coins

• Real Red Cardstock – 2″ x 5 ¾″.  
• All is Bright DSP – 2 pieces that measure 2 ¼″ x 1 ¾″.  You will only need 1 piece of DSP if you decide not to decorate the back of the coin holder.

1. Score the long side of the cardstock at 2 ¾” on both sides.
2. Fold and burnish the scorelines with your bone folder.
3. Round the corners and make the ribbon hole with the Detailed Trio punch.
4. Add a glue dot to the back of the coin.  Place the coin between the 2 scorelines and adhere to the back of the holder.
5. To close the holder add ribbon or baker’s twine of your choice.  You could also use a glue dot or staple to close the holder.
6. The Merry Christmas sentiment I used is from the Seasonal Chums stamp set but have a look through your stamps to find the sentiment you want to use.

Holder for the Unicorn Chocolate Coins

• Real Red Cardstock – 2″ x 5 ¼” 
• Whisper White Cardstock – 1 ¾” x 1 ½”     

1. Score the long side of the cardstock at 2 5/8″ on both sides.  
2. Fold and burnish the scorelines with your bone folder.
3. Feed each end of the cardstock into the Scalloped Tag Topper punch and punch.
4. The cute little elf is from the Santa’s Workshop Suite.  For quickness I used the Santa’s Workshop DSP instead of stamping and colouring him in.  I didn’t want the white edge around the elf that the dies leave so I fussy cut him instead. 
5. Adhere the elf to the white cardstock and adhere to the front of the holder.
6. Add a glue dot to the back of the coin.  Place the coin between the 2 scorelines and adhere to the back of the holder.
7. To close the holder add ribbon or baker’s twine of your choice.  You could also use a glue dot or staple to close the holder.

Just in case you would prefer to stamp and colour the elf or die-cut rather than fussy cut I have included details of the stamp set and dies below.  These are also available as a bundle and you save 10%.

*When making any project I recommend you make it with cheap cardstock first because when someone is typing up lots of measurements mistakes can be made, we are human after all. I do double check my measurements but I have Dyscalculia.
