Botanical Butterfly Birthday Card

I have a pretty butterfly birthday card I want to share with you today.

If you have been following me for a while you will know that I LOVE butterflies so I just had to have the Botanical Butterfly DSP.  There are colourful butterflies on one side and the reverse is black & white with 3 designs that you can colour. 

It’s so easy to coordinate your cardstock and ink with Stampin’ Up! DSP because all the colours are listed on the back of the pack as well as in the catalogue.

For my card I have used Lemon Lime Twist and Basic Black cardstock, the black really makes the colour pop.  Lemon Lime Twist, along with the other four 2017-2019 In Colours, will retire on May 31st, 2019 and I want as many opportunities to use these colours before we say goodbye.

For some added dimension I die-cut 4 of the large Happy Birthday’s and stacked them.  I slightly offset the Lemon Lime Twist layer to get the shadow effect. 

I did the shadow effect for the little butterfly too.  I punched it in black cardstock, cut it in half and offset it on the back of the Lemon Lime Twist one.

To make the card

Cardbase: Whisper White A4 Thick cardstock 11 ¾” x 4 1/8″ scored at 5 7/8″.

Matting Layers:

Lemon Lime Twist cardstock – 4 1/8″ x 2 3/8″.

Basic Black cardstock – 3 7/8″ x 2 1/8″.

Botanical Butterflies DSP – 3 3/4″  x 2″.

To make the Shadow Effect Happy Birthday

You will need:-

1 x Happy Birthday die-cut in Lemon Lime Twist cardstock.

3 x Happy Birthday die-cuts in Basic Black cardstock. 

Glue and stack the 3 Basic Black die-cuts and then put something heavy on them until the glue is dry.  I normally use a large clear block or a punch. 

When adhering the Lemon Lime Twist die-cut off-set it slightly.

When making any project I recommend you make it with cheap cardstock first because when someone is typing up lots of measurements mistakes can be made, we are human after all.

I do double check my measurements but I have Dyscalculia.
