Geoff has worked with airbrushes for years and it’s something I’ve wanted to learn for a while so I asked him to teach me. When he went to Halford’s he found an airbrush in the clearance items and he bought it for me so I would have my own one. My husband is amazing!!
I’ve been watching Sandy Allnock use alcohol markers with an airbrush to create beautiful backgrounds on some of her cards but instead of using markers I tried the Stampin’ Up! ink refills.
After practising with stencils for several days I tried freehand and one of the first things I made was this ‘ombre sky‘. I was so pleased with my first airbrushed project I wanted to share it with you.
You don’t use a lot of ink when you airbrush and it’s a lot quicker and easier than using sponges or daubers.
I decided to go simple with this card. There is a Basic Black cardstock mat behind the strip of Botanical Butterfly DSP and a Balmy Blue and Basic Black layered Best Wishes die-cut.
I’m still playing with the airbrush, I want to try a sunrise background next and if it works I will share it with you.

Lady Dee: Under the posting, today appeared my PARIS beautiful lady . . . . it is so beautiful!!! I loved your card with the shades of blue . . . looks difficult . . . but nothing is difficult for you!!!
I still love the PARIS card, it’s one of my all-time favourites. It took a LOT of practice with the airbrush and I still have a lot to learn. If you could see the first ones I did they are awful. This was just laying down each colour and slightly overlapping each one. Sending love to you and the family xx
