Thank you for joining me today.
On Saturday I shared this very pretty Over-the-Shelf Easel card that I made for the Fancy Fold themed InspireINK Blog Hop and today I have a step-by-step tutorial for you.
To make this card you will need:-
- 1 piece of 11″ x 5½” cardstock (I have used 250gsm white cardstock)
- 1 piece of 8″ x 5½” cardstock (I have used 250gsm white cardstock)
- 2 pieces of 5¼” x 5¼” Balmy Blue cardstock
- 1 piece of 5¼” x 2¼” Balmy Blue cardstock
- White cardstock for the Sentiment
- Glimmer paper for the die-cuts and Sentiment mat
- Scoreboard
- Bone folder
- Scissors
- Adhesive – Double-sided tape and liquid glue
Cardbase
Score the long side of the 11″ x 5½” piece of white cardstock at 2¾” and 5½”.
Fold and burnish both the scorelines as shown below.
Score the long side of the 8″ x 5½” piece of white cardstock at 5½”. Fold and burnish the scoreline with a bone folder.
Balmy Blue Mats
Adhere the 5¼” x 2¼” piece and one of the 5¼” x 5¼” pieces of Balmy Blue cardstock to the front, as shown below.
On the back of the 8″ x 5½” piece add adhesive as shown below.
Align the top of 8″ x 5½” piece just underneath the 5½” scoreline on the cardbase and adhere, shown below.
Your card is almost finished, all we need to do now is add the Easel and the Stopper.
Add adhesive to the area shown below in the photo and the template. You also need to add a strip of adhesive to the bottom of the 5¼” x 5¼” Balmy Blue mat.
TIP: The Balmy Blue mat is ¼” smaller than the card base so when you add the adhesive remember to leave some room around the left and right side.
Align the Balmy Blue mat making sure you have an equal border on each side and at the bottom and adhere.
After adding the Easel the back of the card will look like this.
The last thing we need to make is the Stopper. I have used a sentiment for my stopper but you can use punched or die-cut elements such as flowers, snowflakes etc.
The Stopper needs to have some dimension to work.
- I stamped my sentiment onto a piece of 250gsm white cardstock and then adhered it to 2 other pieces of the same cardstock.
- I added some Dimensionals to the back of the sentiment and adhered the sentiment onto a piece of Balmy Blue Glimmer Paper, as shown below.
You don’t need to have 3 layers of white cardstock, I just wanted to make sure there was plenty of dimension to enable the Easel to stand up securely.
Now you can decorate your Over-the-Shelf Easel card to your heart’s content.
I find it easier to decorate the Over-the-Shelf part of the card first, especially if you have anything dimensional on it.
TIP: When decorating the Over-the-Shelf part of your card fold the card up, this gives you a visual reference for positioning anything that will hang off the bottom. You want to keep everything within the 5½” square of the card base, see below.
