Hello and welcome to the Pootlers Team Blog Hop. Today we are showcasing some of the fabulous new products in the 2020 Autumn/Winter Mini Catalogue.
There will be lots of inspirational projects for you today created by these very talented ladies and you will find all the links at the bottom of this post.
After finding out that a deck of playing cards would fit inside a Mini Pizza Box it got me thinking about the Mini Paper Pumpkin Boxes.
I had a quick look on Pinterest and the ones I saw had been used for cards and envelopes but you know me, I like to do something different but what could I put inside?
Before I got M.E. and Fibromyalgia I was an Assistant Manager at a creche and it was lovely watching the children learn through play. My Colour Your Own Playing Cards gift box is based on learning through play, it’s something fun for a child to do and at the same time they are learning:-
- Colours
- Counting – some cards have more than 1 image on them, they can count the cards or count how many pairs they have
- Concentration
- Memory
- Hand-eye coordination
- Pincer Grasp
- Taking turns and sharing
The Mini Paper Pumpkin boxes I had were faulty and the replacements wouldn’t arrive in time so I have made a box that’s the same size instead.
Each card measures 3 5/8″ x 2 ¾” and there are 52 cards in the box. After colouring the cards the child can play games like Pairs or Snap with the rest of the family.
When I held the cards up to the light you could see the image through it so I used a texture stamp from my collection and stamped it in Real Red ink on the back of every card. No cheating please.
The colouring pencils were from Asda, you get 100 pencils for £2.75p. I could fit 19 pencils in the box.
I didn’t have enough images with just my new stamp sets so I have used a few retired ones. I think that’s a good excuse to buy some more, do you? I bet you recognise some of the retired sets.
Using my Stamparatus to stamp the images made it a lot quicker but you can use acrylic blocks if you don’t have a stamping tool.
Children get bored when they are at the dining table on Christmas Day but this would give them something to do without taking up lots of room on the table.
These would make great stocking fillers/stuffers and you could make them for craft fairs too. If you make them for craft fairs state what age they are suitable for and I wouldn’t put wax crayons in because of the risk of choking.
