Hello and welcome to the Simply Sketched Saturday Challenge Blog Hop.
At the beginning of each month one of the lovely ladies in our team sets the challenge, it can be a sketch, a colour challenge or a theme.
Our challenge this month was a sketch created by the lovely Jillian Selwood. Please continue the hop by clicking on the ‘Next’ or ‘Previous’ buttons at the bottom of this post.
When I saw the sketch I didn’t have a clue what I was going to make. I played around with a few ideas but when I made the cards there was something missing and I didn’t know what it was so I gave up with them.
Towards the end of last month my Upline Sam set a challenge for some of the demonstrators in her team who were close to promoting to Silver. Anyone who promoted by the end of July could chose a stamp set and a pack of DSP. The challenge set by Sam gave me the kick up the bottom I needed to talk to others about the benefits of becoming a demonstrator and Stampin’ Up! had an amazing joining offer.
I plucked up the courage to talk to my friend Helen about her becoming a hobby demo to get the 20% discount. On 29th July I went to Helen’s for the evening and she signed up as a demo (her partner saw the July joining offer and suggested she do it). I had promoted to Silver and I was so excited. The stamp set I chose was World’s Best Trophy and when it arrived I decided to try it for this challenge and I’m really pleased I did. Thank you Sam for my lovely gifts, you are an amazing Upline.
When designing a card I place the stamps I want to use onto a cardbase and move them around until I’m happy with the layout. If I’m die-cutting I add the dies to the cardbase and then work out which sentiment to use. It took me quite a while to work out the sentiments for this card, there are 53 photopolymer stamps in this stamp set. Once I have everything laid out I take a photo because I know I won’t remember where everything was.
I decided to go with Dapper Denim for todays card because it’s such a beautiful shade of blue. The trophy was stamped onto Whisper White cardstock and onto a piece of Dapper Denim Ombré effect DSP from the Color Theory Designer Series Paper stack.
The sentiment was stamped onto a scrap of Whisper White cardstock and I sponged it to give it a denim effect. I added Stampin’ Dimensionals to the back of the sentiment panel.
I cut 2 card bases (8-1/4″ x 5-3/4″) from a sheet of A4 Dapper Denim cardstock. I embossed the front of the cardbase with the Hexagons dynamic textured embossing folder.
For the inside of the card I stamped the sentiment and the medal onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock. The narrow strip of Dapper Denim cardstock that was left over when I cut the 2 card bases was adhered to the white insert.
Please continue the hop by clicking on the ‘Next’ button to see what the lovely Sally Shaw has created
or if you’re a rebel and going backwards on the hop (I tend to do that) click on the ‘Previous’ button to see the project the lovely Lisa Emslie has created.
The World’s Best Trophy stamp set is amazing and I think it gets overlooked in the catalogue.
There are stamps for:-
father, mother, dad, mum, mom, husband, wife, son, daughter, brother, sister, grandpa, grandma, uncle, aunt, auntie, nephew, niece, cousin, parent, friend, coach and teacher.
It also has:-
- ‘step’ for step mum, step dad etc
- ‘-in-law’ for brother-in-law, mother-in-law etc.
- ‘god’ for godson, godmother etc.

- great- for great-grandson, great-grandmother etc.
These are the images in this 2 step stamp set
I’m really happy with the way today’s card turned out and relieved I finally made a card for today’s sketch.
I hope you will join me again tomorrow for the 2nd part of my Craftroom Organisation series. Tomorrow’s post shows the holder I made to store my 6″ DSP and matching Memories + More cards.
Have yourself some crafting fun.
