Today I have a beautiful card to share with you using the Snowflake Showcase products. I have used the Snowflake Swirl stamp again but this time I have used it as the focal image on my card. If you are new to my blog I made the stamp by die-cutting the snowflake swirl die with some craft foam.
1st and 2nd Generation Ink
Before I get into making my card I wanted to explain 1st and 2nd generation ink, just in case you have never heard of this term.
- When you ink your stamp and stamp it directly onto the cardstock this is called 1st generation ink.
- If you ink your stamp, stamp it onto scrap paper first and then stamp it onto the cardstock, without re-inking it, this is called 2nd generation ink. You can do this with the lighter colours.
- With some of the darker/stronger colours e.g. Night of Navy, Melon Mambo you can get 3rd, 4th and sometimes 5th generation ink.
- This is a great way to get different shades of colour from one ink pad.
Instead of making my own DSP I stamped some of the snowflakes around the edge of the Crumb Cake card base with 1st and 2nd generation Crumb Cake ink. On a piece of Whisper White cardstock I also stamped the snowflake swirl with 2nd generation Crumb Cake ink.
One of my go to Christmas sentiments for 2017 & 2018 is the ‘Merry Christmas from our family to yours’. I have been using it a lot and as it was already on an acrylic block and I was too lazy to look through my stamp sets I heat embossed the sentiment with gold embossing powder and I love how it looks with the Crumb Cake.
For the inside of the card I stamped ‘Wishing you a season of joy, a season of cheer, and most of all – a wonderful year’ onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock and added some more of the beautiful snowflakes.

This bundle retires in a couple of days and I am REALLY going to miss it. The Happiness Surrounds stamp set is an all year round stamp set and as I haven’t had time to use it yet I may use it in future projects.

When making any project I recommend you make it with cheap cardstock first because when someone is typing up lots of measurements mistakes can be made, we are human after all. I do double check my measurements but I have Dyscalculia.
