Thank you for joining me today for my 5th Sale-A-Bration Simple Sunday project. There are 26 days left to get free Sale-A-Bration products so if there are Stampin’ Up! products you have been waiting to order now is the time to place that order and get free products too. You can choose a free Sale-A-Bration product for every £45 you spend (before shipping). Sale-A-Bration items are only available whilst supplies last.
I found it quite challenging to come up with ideas on using the Carried Away DSP without having a hot air balloon stamp or die. I love the Lift Me Up stamp set and Up & Away Thinlits dies, they are on my Wish List but every time I go to order them I find something else. Does this happen to you too?
The 1st project I made with the Carried Away DSP was a fish themed card that I made for my Nieces 21st Birthday. Before I posted the card I photographed it, added the watermark and then realised the stamp set I used had retired. I have added the photos at the bottom of this post because you don’t really need the stamp set to make the card you could just use the Festive Flower Builder Punch.
I love making 3D projects and the ‘2 4 6 8’ box is really quick and simple to make but what could I add to the front of it? I Googled ‘unusual shaped hot air balloons’ and one of the pictures gave me the idea to use the Delicate Ornaments Thinlits Dies. These dies make beautiful Christmas Ornaments but it’s nice to be able to use them for non-Christmas projects too.
On the back of the DSP stacks Stampin’ Up! lists all the colours that are in the DSP, I chose Night of Navy and Watermelon Wonder cardstock for my hot air balloon. I picked Watermelon Wonder because I haven’t used it before and it’s one of the 2015/17 In Colours that are due to retire at the end of May.
For the ‘2 4 6 8’ box I cut a piece of Night of Navy A4 cardstock to 9 1/2″ x 8 1/4″. I scored the short side at 2″, 4″, 6″ and 8″. On the long side I scored at 2″, 7″ and 9″ (If you are using 8 1/2″ x 11″ cardstock cut it to 9 1/2″ x 8 1/2″). The finished dimensions of the box are 5″ x 2″ x 2″.
After I had assembled the box I adhered a 4-3/4″ x 1-3/4″ piece of DSP to each side with Tombow Multipurpose Liquid Glue.
I cut off the top of the ornament to use as the basket and adhered Basic Black Solid Bakers Twine between the balloon and the basket with 2 small pieces of Tear & Tape and then added Stampin’ Dimensionals.
I hope you like my ‘2 4 6 8’ box. I have listed all the products I used for todays project at the bottom of this post.
This is the card I made for my Niece, I was really disappointed that I couldn’t use it for todays Sale-A-Bration Simple Sunday project, I thought the Friends & Flowers stamp set was in the Annual catalogue but it’s a retired stamp set. The cardbase is Thick Whisper White cardstock and the background panel is Pool Party cardstock. The goldfish were made with some scraps of Pumpkin Pie cardstock, stamped with Pumpkin Pie ink and I added some Clear Wink of Stella to them. For the ‘patterned fish’ I used one of the patterns in the Carried Away DSP. They were punched with the Festive Flower Builder punch.
I have added the Large Number Framelits dies to the list of products I want to order this month and hopefully I can order the Lift Me Up bundle too. I’m not sure which company makes the stamps and dies I used for the ’21’.
