Earlier this month I made a huge box that I named THE Whopper of a box because it was 12″ x 3-1/8″ x 3-1/8″. You can find the tutorial for the box here.
I needed a box this big for some Vintage Style Glass Bottles that I bought on the Hobbycraft website. I bought a box of 12 bottles because I thought they would make inexpensive gifts. After I made the box I found out that this box will also hold a 75cl bottle of wine.
The vintage bottles are lovely and I thought they would look good with bubble bath or sweets in them. Some of the bottles have been filled with Bubble Bath and I added a pretty coordinating tag (a 750ml bottle of bubble bath will fill the bottle). The vintage glass bottle cost £2 and the bubble bath cost £1 so for £3 you have a stylish and really useful gift.
I went into town looking for sweets that would fit in the neck of the bottle and all I found were Jelly Beans and Dolly Mixtures. I made a tag that had Sweet Sugarplum Tulips on it and coordinating ribbon because some of the Dolly Mixtures were a similar colour. It took 3 x 150g bags of Dolly Mixtures to fill the bottle. I would love to receive a bottle full of sweets, I don’t think they would last very long in this house. The total cost of this gift was £3.47
Not only are these inexpensive gifts they are also reusable, when the bottle is empty the recipient can refill it.
