Golden Gift Box

When I designed this box I didn’t think it would look this pretty, the sparkle from all the gold is so stunning I wish you could see it in person.  

This is a great size box, the finished dimensions are 3¼” x 3¼” x 3¼”.  I made the box for Kayleigh’s Golden Wonder Bath Bomb from LUSH but if you didn’t want to put a bath bomb in it you could fit a lot inside this box.  The gift shaped bath bomb is available all year round and it could be used for many different occasions. 

I’ve had this bath bomb since last year waiting for the right stamp set to come along and when I saw all those cute little stockings I knew they were what I had been waiting for.

I wanted gold heat embossed stockings all around the box and to get that uniform look I lined the stamps up in my Stamparatus.  I also used the Embossing Buddy before doing any stamping, this prevents the embossing powder sticking to the oils left behind from our hands.  

I heat embossed the Merry Christmas and the small stocking to go on the lid.  I wanted to put the sentiment on a layer of gold foil and then have a layer of gold glimmer paper but I had run out of gold foil.  I made my own gold foil card by die-cutting a square of white card and then heat embossed the edges of it.

The Merry Christmas sentiment is from the Snowflake Showcase stamp set and the stockings are from the Hung With Care Hostess stamp set.

I think the gold makes this box look really classy and expensive, what do you think? As always you can find all the dimensions and a list of the products below.

Dimensions*

To be able to get the height of the box I had to use 12″ x 12″ cardstock.

Box Base

For the box base I cut my cardstock to 9-11/16″ x 9-11/16″.  If you don’t like to work in 16th of an inch cut the cardstock a smidge under 9¾” x 9¾”.  Score all 4 sides at 3¼”.

Box Lid 

For the lid cut a piece of cardstock to 5¾” x 5¾”.  Score all 4 sides at 1¼”.
