Geoff and I had so much fun spending time with my Dad and we also spent a lot of time chatting and getting to know his partner Jan who is really lovely. Dad and Jan took us along the promenade and we stopped at the bandstand for Ice cream but I didn’t get to go on the beach because of the wheelchair.
Today I’m celebrating my 200th blog post and I have a cute refillable notepad holder for you. All the dimension to make the holder can be found at the bottom of this post.
The holder is quick and easy to make and you could definitely make a batch of these for craft fairs, Christmas Bazaars, School Fairs etc. They are also inexpensive, the notepad I’ve used is a 20p Handy Jotter’s from Wilko’s.
I had planned to use the Swirls and Curls embossing folder for the white fur on the jacket but I found some white embossed card that I’d bought at a craft fair back in April which was perfect. I had put the card away and totally forgot I had it. Does this happen to you too? I also used the card to cover the front of the notebook but you don’t have to do this.
The belt does open and I have attached it at the back of the holder but it can also be a belly band. It was easier to photograph before adhering it.
I’m really pleased with how my little Santa Jacket notepad holder turned out but if I were to make it again I would use the new Black Foil sheets for the belt. I made another project with the black foil and it definitely looks better than the cardstock.

Supplies needed for the Santa’s Jacket Notepad Holder

Tutorial*
The Handy Jotter measure 3-1/4″ wide, 4″ tall and the spine is 3/8″.
For the Holder you will need:-
- A piece of Poppy Parade cardstock that measures 4” x 7-1/8”. Score the long side at 3-3/8″ at both ends.
- A strip of Poppy Parade cardstock that measures 1” x 6-5/8”. I centred the strip of cardstock on the piece of chipboard at the back of the Jotter and loosely folded the card around the chipboard. I made sure the fold lines were straight and burnished them. Before I adhered it to the holder I made sure the Jotter could move freely.
For the Belt you will need:-
- A strip of Basic Black cardstock that measures 3/4″ x 9-1/4″. On the front of the holder place one end of the cardstock in the centre and fold it around the holder. Make sure all the fold lines are straight and burnish.
- A piece of Gold Glimmer Paper approximately 1-1/4″ x 1-1/4″.
To make the Belt Buckle so that I could open the belt:-
- Using the 2nd smallest scalloped square die from the Layering Squares Framelits die-cut a piece of Gold Glimmer paper.
- For me to be able to open the belt I needed to cut 2 slits into the die-cut. I placed the strip of card on the die-cut and using a metal ruler and a craft knife I cut a slit slightly larger than the cardstock (approx 7/8″) and did this on both sides. If you prefer to measure it the slit is about 1/8″ from the side and approx 1/16″ from the top and bottom.
I adhered the buckle to the end of the cardstock that you started with in the centre of the holder and I rounded to corners at the other end to give it a nicer finish.

*When designing a project or when I CASE (Copy And Share Everything) someone’s project I ALWAYS make it with some cheap cardstock first. When typing up lots of measurements mistakes can be made, we are human after all. It doesn’t help that I have Dyscalculia. When making any project I recommend making it first with the cheap stuff.*
